Novoloop Announces Appointment of Jerry Grunewald to Board of Directors

Jerry Grunewald brings more than 36 years of hands-on leadership experience scaling chemical technologies from laboratory development to full commercial production. Over his career, he held senior technology and operations leadership roles at DuPont and Koch Industries, and most recently served as Vice President of R&D at INVISTA, where he was responsible for the company’s global R&D portfolio and long-term technology roadmap.

At INVISTA, Jerry led multidisciplinary teams across 13 global manufacturing sites, overseeing numerous lab-to-pilot-to-first-commercial and large-scale deployment programs in polymers, intermediates, and advanced materials. He played a central role in establishing and expanding INVISTA’s manufacturing footprint in China, including technology transfer, scale-up, and operational readiness for complex chemical processes in Chinese operating environments.

Across multiple decades, Jerry has overseen the industrial evolution of core chemistries directly relevant to Novoloop, including dicarboxylic acid intermediates and downstream chemistries, as well as the process innovations required to improve yield, cost, and reliability at scale. His experience spans process development, capital project execution, plant startup, and sustained manufacturing performance, providing a deep perspective on how new circular chemistries successfully transition into durable, global production platforms.

As an Independent Board Director at Novoloop, Jerry supports the company’s first-of-a-kind plant scale-up, China manufacturing strategy, and technology-to-operations transition, helping guide technical decision-making, execution planning, and operational risk management as Novoloop moves from demonstration to commercial scale.

Jerry holds a bachelor’s degree from La Salle University and a Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from the University of Florida. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Master Black Belt and an advanced instructor in the TRIZ problem-solving methodology, bringing a rigorous, systems-level approach to scaling complex chemical technologies.
